Neil's Hooked!

Nitrox has been an ambition of Neal Faulkner since he was 23 and now has pleasure in announcing the arrival of Nitrox Charters.  Neal started fishing as a boy but found it boring until he did some fishing abroad - his serious fishing started just over 10 years ago and he has combined his passion for deep sea diving with his new venture Nitrox Charters.

 

Well known for web design services in the Manchester area, Neal contacted PJ Web Solutions for a local web solution to suit his business needs and his new website was launched in Spring 2009.  Neal needed a website with a full content management system so that he could make regular changes to the information on the site in minutes.  PJ Web were able to provide him with a cms updateable website at an affordable price, plus a short training session to help him get used to the easy-to-use management area.

 

Nitrox was built by Safehaven Marine in Cork, between November 07 to April 08, and launched on the 12th April. She is built to pilot boat specifications and the strongest hull in her class; 38.6ft in length, 12.10ft in beam making her very stable, powered by caterpillar 575hp engine, and pushed along by a 26" propeller giving her a top speed at 27knots. She displaces 14 tonnes.

 

Neal took delivery of Nitrox on 24th april 2008 as a sail away build. She was fully workable boat, but without any fit out inside. He sailed her back from East Ferry Marina in Cobh, back to Holyhead Marina, some 192 sea miles. The weather was terrible, fog, rain, mist and the forcast 5/6 and the next day 6/7 south westerlies, he sailed with no instruments apart from a hand held gps - great but no good in fog!! Two days later they were at Holyhead. The boat performed brilliantly, a real confidence boost  to her new crew.

 

Neal started the fit out about 10 days later, the project for fit out was 12 weeks, but lasted only 10 weeks. There are some pictures on the website of how she was in the bare fibreglass and fitted out to final finish.

 

Nitrox is now fitted to the highest standards with:

 

  • Dive lift, this also aids in recovery of large fish onboard.
  • Generator 240v for use, with 5 sockets for charging and use of laptops.
  • 12 volt socket for other appliances
  • Bait station for preparing bait
  • Hand wash and deckwash to keep your fishing area clean
  • Rod holders to rails when fishing and a central rod holding system when motoring
