Salford-based PJ Web has created a new website for leading education provider Kumon Educational UK. Kumon, which has more than 600 study centres across the UK and Ireland, selected PJ Web using Google search tools to help them identify the most appropriate web design company in the region.
Kumon's Geoff Andrews commented: "Our old site didn't offer us any real flexibility; what we needed were microsites for all of our individual study centres but in a format that clearly communicated the strong Kumon brand values. So we knew that, as well as being able to create a visually great site, we needed to work with a company who really excelled at content management. We used Google maps to identify all web design companies in the Manchester area which offered content management and then filtered that down to see which ones offered a bespoke service.
So, being visible through Google was essential from the outset. Once we had identified a handful of likely partners we set about contacting them by more traditional methods and we were amazed at how few even bothered to answer the phone!"
He continued "PJ Web provided a very no-nonsense approach and good value for money. With a regional office in Cheadle we wanted to work with the best supplier in the North West and Google helped us to find that partner very easily."
PJ Web's brief was to create a new site which better reflects Kumon's corporate identity. It was also essential that the site had a sophisticated content management system to enable Kumon to easily modify the content.
PJ Web's Sarah Jackson adds: "We launched a new website for PJ Web in January and really focused on making sure that it was highly visible on Google and that our specialisms, such as database management and content driven systems, were easy to identify. It was really rewarding to pick up this major contract having had no previous relationship with Kumon and knowing that they were able to pinpoint us just by clever use of the Google search facility.
The new site www.kumon.co.uk went live in August and features a public facing website and an extranet facility where Kumon Instructors can log on and access files, information and instructional aids.
PJ Web has also created a sistersite with specific Irish content and a third phase of the brief is to create an area which will help to reward and retain the students. This area titled Kumon Kids will enable students to log on and receive rewards for the work they are doing.
